Clare's Safaris, Kenya

Claire Jones Biography

Claire Jones

Claire was born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1966; her father was a professional hunter running hunting safaris until the ban in 1977 and thereafter photographic safaris.

This upbringing & experience focused Claire’s mind and in 1997 when returning to Kenya with her family her love of the country drove her to learn to fly as a means of seeing more.

In 2004 Claire qualified in the United States with a full commercial rating and following conversion in Kenya has been operating as a charter pilot servicing both the local business & international tourism markets and operating her own Flying Safaris within Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

This experience of visiting all corners of East Africa and in particular the bush strips & lodges therein has given Claire a unique insight into the safaris & operations and the owners, managers & staff have become close contacts.

Having been a keen cook and food enthusiast all her life & with significant entertainment at home, Claire continues to provide “chef training” to lodges & tour operators in Kenya as well as contract catering management to large group safaris and parties.

Claire’s husband Rod supports the administration from the family home in Laikipia along side his other business interests whilst their two children, Oliver & Gabriel are now away at school.

These experiences & circumstances allow Claire to plan & manage your personalised Safari to the last detail & ensure that you experience the best that East Africa has to offer whilst personally piloting you from point to point.
